Betta News extra: June 2012
The letter in-between
The 20th anniversary of the European Anabantoid Club is coming up quickly and the great event is now only a few days away! Peter Bärwald is the organizer and has arranged a special setting for this event that includes a large international show of Betta splendens from the Betta friends and a competition. The committee was able to put together an appropriate anniversary programme with international speakers. These include, and we are particularly pleased to introduce, Alfred Waser from Switzerland, Morten Ask and Thor Winter Dahl of Norway and a surprising highlight from Thailand Atison Phumchoosri and Prof. Bhinyo Panijpan with Prof. Pintip Ruenwongsa from the Mahidol University in Bangkok. Leslie Barker from the UK unfortunately had called off for health reasons. We wish his wife all the best and a speedy recovery.
On Saturday around 5.30 pm the prize giving ceremony and the auction of the fish from the competition will commence and at about 6.30 pm the large fish sale starts. Including:
Betta smaragdina (breeding pairs)
Betta sp. Mahachai
Betta sp. Palangka
Betta rubra
Betta splendens (sensational, new breeding forms)
Parosphromenus linkei
Sphaerichthys selatanensis
Betta cf. imbellis Black (breeding pairs)
Betta smaragdina copper (breeding pairs)
...and many more other Labyrinths
